About the Event

With the historic selection of Senator Kamala Harris, the first Black and South Asian woman of Indian descent, as the Democratic Vice Presidential Nominee, Vice President Biden has affirmed his strong commitment to diversity. Join four South Asian women leaders who are trailblazers in their communities as they discuss their political journeys and the reasons why they believe a Biden Harris administration will usher a new wave of diversity. Panelists for this event include Dr. Sadaf Jaffer, the first Muslim woman to serve as a Mayor in the US; Kesha Ram, the youngest Indian American woman to be elected to statewide office; Dr. Nina Ahmad, candidate for PA Auditor General slated to be the first woman of color to hold statewide office in PA; and Harbir Bhatia, candidate for Santa Clara city council in CA, slated to be the first Sikh American woman elected to Santa Clara City Council. All attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions of the panelists following a discussion moderated by Mini Timmaraju, Board Member of Indian American Impact Fund and Emily's List. The event will take place on Saturday, August 29th, at 8:00 PM ET / 5:00 PM PT, and will be co-hosted by Indian American Impact Fund. We hope to see you there!
